Red Milkshake (Lampropeltis triangulum syspila) at campsite N-6, Trail of Tears State Forest, Union County, Illinois at 10:34 PM on 30 June 2019. Sorry for the poor quality, but this was flashlight photography 🔦😀

It was a "milksnake," not a "milkshake."

Timber Rattlesnake near Bald Knob Cross a few years back

View attachment 619
I hiked up the Bald Knob Trail about three years ago. It was frosty when I started out. I didn't see any snakes, just an armadillo. When I stopped in at the Cross visitor center, the nice lady there acted like she thought I was crazy for hiking up the trail because of the rattlesnakes. 😜
