When does Graffiti become rock art? Age? Author or artist have a bearing?
I captured this vandalism, Graffiti, shortly after it happened. I named it the bleeding heart. The sap is still running from the knife wound on the cedart tree. It is clearly graffiti or vandalism.
Now the following face carved in sandstone is it graffiti or rock art? It is found on a bluff below a waterfall on the Sugar Maple trail, Wylusung SP, Wisconsin. It was clearly done decades ago. The patina of the sandstone defies being an indicator when it was done. Has it passed over from graffiti to rock art? Which is it?
