Giant City State Park in Makanda, Illinois, puts on the Gnome Roam Challenge.
You hike their 7 trails and take a selfie or regular picture of the gnome cutout. When you complete it all, you get a patch. It's all free.
You get to enjoy the Trillium Trail, Nature Trail, Indian Creek Trail, Stonefort Trail, Post Oak Trail, Interpretive Trail, and Devil's Stand Table Trail. Altogether, it was around 5 miles and under 500 feet of elevation.
Each trail is typically a loop or lollipop loop, between a third of a mile and a mile and a half long.
This is going on for the rest of this month and January.
Information and patches are at the Visitor Center!
