I'll go first:

Horseshoe Bluff, Shawnee National Forest, Pomona, Illinois - this is an area that not a lot of people really go to. You can see the bend of the Big Muddy River on it which IMO is the prettiest part of the river.

Did you do the Smokies for the hikes or for your bride:)
We both had talked about wanting to go a few years ago. And when we decided to get married, we figured it would be a great honeymoon location. So, a little of both haha :) The mountains were a different hike though, pretty strenuous than what we are used to.

Looking northwest across the Saline River Valley towards Harrisburg from a ledge on the escarpment along the west side of Cave Hill, Shawnee National Forest near Equality, Illinois, taken 10 September 2021. I call this ledge the "Hawk's Roost" because a hawk took flight from a smaller ledge just below as I first approached.

Tilted rock strata that protrude from the hillside show the large amount of displacement along the Shawneetown Fault that runs along the west and north side of Cave Hill.
