Do you carry a fire-starting kit of any kind?

If not, why not?

If yes, what kit do you carry?

I have waterproof matches. You can dip them in water and snow and they'll still strike up and light. They almost look like mini incense!

I also carry a feral rod with me. I can use my pocketknife to create sparks. I always have a stick of fatwood with me too for dry kindling if I need it.

I carry a lighter, waterproof matches, magnesium fire starter, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper!
That's a great kit!

You have everything you need to start a fire with that. :)

Cottonballs with candle wax on them can also help.

I have candles in my 1st aid kit now too, I forgot about that.

Candles are a great idea.

If you have to put up a quick tarp to keep the rain off you, a candle might save your hands for warming up!

I have a trashbag to, if you put your head through the bottom and sit Indian style with a candle under the bag, it's a "Palmer Furnace".
