How do you feel about the carbon versus aluminum gravel bikes debate?

Carbon is beneficial because it's generally lighter, primarily for reducing shock and friction from rough riding on gravel roads. However, carbon is more expensive and harder to repair if it breaks. You are also limited on how much gear you can put on it (weight-wise) for things like touring or bikepacking.

Aluminum bikes can cost $1,000 or less, which is less than most carbon bikes. They're easier to repair when cracked or damaged. They can hold more weight, and many are just as light or pretty dang close to the weight of a carbon frame.

So, the question is: Which do you prefer (vote on the poll) and why (reply with your reasoning)?
