    GPS Unit

I'm a fan of Garmin. I have a bike computer by them and my sports watch is by them. I have the Garmin 64st GPS unit but the newer ones have fancier features that I would like mainly because my vision isn't what it used to be. But those units are expensive and I'm a little cheap sometimes lol

Day Hiking East Godwin to Hutchins Creek (River to River Trail Section)

The campsites nearby aren't too spectacular. People mainly enjoy it because the creek looks like something out of the Missouri Ozarks and there are pockets of clear spring water that are great for wading in when it's hot out. However, Odie's Place is along this creek and that's really fun to...

    Government Shutdown

I agree. If anything though, I'll go out to the popular spots (if open) and collect any litter to help out while workers can't get out there.

    GPS Unit

I've been looking at getting a newer Garmin gps. I'm looking at a really nice one but of course, a rather expensive one. However, it would also have a PLB attached to it which might be worth the cost.

Do you carry a Personal Locator Beacon?

If I were to get back into the guided hiking business again, I think I would get one for that. When you're taking clients out in the backcountry, you really need to emphasize even more safety at least for their sake.

    Downtime Planned

Howdy all, My hosting service will be doing some server upgrades mainly in the BIOS area. The maintenance process will begin Tuesday, October 14th at 12:00 AM (midnight) PT and will run until 4:00 AM PT. There will likely be downtime periods. In case you notice downtime, this is likely going...

Show us a bridge on the trail!

Yep. The city maintains that section of the trail. It's technically not even tunnel hill. But they did replace it.

Should Solo Hiking and Backpacking Be Discouraged for Safety Reasons?

I agree. When I first started out, before I met my wife, solo is all that I did. I learned a lot from it, had a blast, and really found myself. I don't think I would be into hiking as much as I am today had I not did all that on my own from the start.

    Government Shutdown

Do you still hike on federal public land during the government shutdown? Some people won't because they say it's not fair on returning workers. How do you feel about this situation?

Show us a bridge on the trail!

That is really cool! I'd love to be able to drive through one. Are there any near that we can still drive through that you know of?
