Who hikes and backpacks with four legged companions?

This is me with Buddy, he is four years old and has done hundreds of miles with me. This pick is in the Great Sand Dunes NP in Colorado.

There are no pets here aside from a few cats. I told my wife that eventually, I'd love to consider getting a dog and making him or her a hiking buddy.

I am not a big fan of National Parks and their anti-pets policy. I saw that a lot in the Smokies.

Bison, my retired hiker, now 11 years old. He is limited to about a two mile hike.

He always protected me from suspicious charecters.
