Do any of you get into ultralight backpacking at all?

It's where you carry as little as possible or use the lightest weighing gear.

Some live by this, some don't.

Where do you stand?

I pack light. Probably don't qualify as ultralight but close. Tents and sleeping bags are some of the heavy items to quickly reduce weight. I cowboy camp sometimes, just a ground cover and bag, and use my pack as a pillow. If I don't cowboy camp then I use a hammock and fly as my first choice, it lets me set up most anywhere, even rough terrain below a waterfall - see pic. A bivy is my second choice if no where to hang or not allowed. I only carry a sleeping bag when weathers is forecasted below 30 degrees, otherwise i use a light weight sleeping bag liner as my bag. As I have mentioned before I quit cooking 15 years ago. That saves a lot of weight not needing a stove, pots and plates.
