Do you hike with trekking poles?

Typically, I don't. I video my hikes and take photos, and trekking poles tend to get in the way of that, even the telescopic ones.

I usually only wish I had them when I cross sketchy creeks, LOL.

How about you all?

Do you use them? If so, how much of the time and what brand do you enjoy using?

I use one only and all the time. I use it to navigate rough terrain, largely rocks, roots and streams. It has saved me from several falls over the years. Using only one. It keeps me pretty free to use my camera which is in a pouch on my chest strap. I will take hundreds of photos when I am out for a week. Using the one pole does not hinder me in taking pics.

I have had the pole for so many years i don't remember where I got it, just know it was cheap and lightweight. It has held up well.

I use 1 trekking pole for hiking in the Midwest, 2 when I hike in the mountains. I use 2 trekking poles for trail runs over 14 miles long. I use cheap Wal-Mart poles for hiking and black diamond poles for running.
