I bit on one of these Guidesman 84-Piece Survival Kits for $19.99 after $5 rebate on Black Friday at Menards. They've had the same or similar on sale before and I have passed before. This time I bought one. I don't know about the quality of the contents, but it looks like it contains a lot of basic, reasonably functional stuff. I was more interested in the little pack which I think was worth the price by itself. Not top-of-line quality gear by any means, but still should be good for occasional use. I regarded the contents as a bonus. I see they still have some left in the store for $24.99, but no rebate. The 4-Piece Survival/Knife tool set at the same price also looked like a decent buy too, although I didn't get one.

That doesn't look bad!

I used to use ones that I can find like that. Nowadays, I like building my own.

My first aid kit consists of:
-Stuff for blisters
-Stuff for bee stings/reactions
-Torniquets
-Shears
-Blood clotting powder
-Gloves
-Medicines that would likely be needed
-Emergency electrolytes

I really try to stick with supplies that are likely needed on hikes.

Do you carry a splint when you guide hikes? I've heard of cavers having them in 1st aid kits.
