They don't bother me but I respect them. I worry the most stepping over a log or reaching for a handhold when climbing a rocky area and startling a rattlesnake. I also worry about the dog seeing one and nosing up to it.
I was in the natural tunnel in Bennett springs SP and saw a rattlesnake, I stepped around and took the dog around with me. One the way back the dog ran ahead, still didn't see the snake, but he trampled all over it, the snake squirmed and said "ooh uuh" but was to startled to react
