What are the Hiking Boots for Long-Distance Trails that you've worn?

Are they good for gripping, too?

Help me decide on a few brands!

I wear Merrill’s, I get about 1,200 - 1,500 miles out of them. This pair is about 10 months old but have over 1,000 rugged miles on them - about there IMG_7083.jpeg

You were more specific, yess Merrill Moab. Do you how many miles you get out of a pair? Curious if my mileage wear is typical of others?

I got 800 miles out of them and they're still good, my feet have gotten bigger and they don't fit anymore.

They're good for caving, most things get ruined on that environment.

I buy hiking shoes one size larger than I normally wear, one for swelling and one for thicker socks
I do, too! I wear thick alpaca wool socks in the winter and if I don't have that one size up, it's not comfortable.

But one size up for me is 14 and those aren't always easy to find, LOL.

I haven’t been able to find a boot that I like. I exclusively use Topo Trail Runners. Their main selling point is a snug waist but with a really wide toe box that lets your toes splay naturally. If you fight toe blisters these are a lifesaver.

I've been getting blisters from my hiking shoes on longer hikes here and there, but they may still need more break in.

My Oboz boots never give me any blisters.

I want to try trail runners during the warm months, but I go through too many creeks in the winter and have to have waterproof, or my foot will freeze, LOL.
