Hughes Mountain Natural Area is a 1.6-mile out and back hiking trail in Irondale, Missouri.

It had an elevation of about 390 feet. We hiked more because we were looking around - about 2.5 miles of hiking for me and the wife.

It is a mountain, but it isn't as hard to hike as it sounds. It reminded me of hiking in the Shawnee National Forest.

The best features were to rock formations (rhyolite rock) and the scenic overlooks. This would be perfect for sunrise/sunset and fall colors.

It's hiker only and day-use only.

I highly recommend it. It's one of my favorite trails in Missouri, now!
