Have you ever been hit by a car while cycling?

If so, tell us about your experience! What did you learn from it?

What can other riders take from it to protect themselves?
 
I haven't been hit by a car but witnessed so many other cyclist being hit by cars. It's not a good look because some of them were heavily injured as a result of the accident.
