Have any of you hiked with kids at all?

Overall, what is your opinion on hiking with kids? Do you enjoy it? Dislike it? Why, either way?

How do you ensure kids have fun and enjoy the hike?
 
Yes by all means hike with the kids. You plan the adventure for their age, interest, and ability - that is how you make if fun for them. It is about building your relationship with your kids, or scouts or any that are out in the woods with you - not the hike. We have many opportunity to do our challenging adventures.
 
When my step kids bless me with grandchildren, you better believe I'll be taking them hiking and biking. :)
