- The trail was hilly but easy to follow. Expect tough climbs, foot bridges over creeks and rocky terrain in the switchbacks.
We hiked Abrams Falls from the parking lot off the Cades Cove Loop.
This is at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Townsend, Tennessee.
The overall hike was great. There are plenty of scenic views, creeks, and the waterfall at the end is amazing. People even swim in the water but there are signs indicating how many people die each year from drowning there. Please use caution if you swim. We did not swim.
The hike is hilly the entire way. While there are switchbacks, it's still the mountains. We gained about 700' of elevation.
No pets are allowed on this hike, and you need to be black bear aware.
A permit is required to park in the parking lot. You can get day/week/month permits at the working farm general store nearby.
