    How do you prefer to sleep when backpacking?

    Not being able to sleep on your side seems to be the most common complaint with hammocks. But I can sleep on my side or any other position. Most people string them to tight. That might be the reason, give it another try.

    Too many years and trips to count. Definitely in the dozens. I do some with friends but I love going solo - if going with Buddy counts as solo.

    What's the longest trail you've hiked?

    Round Top Mountain 3.5 mile trail, Jasper Ark. had a bomber crash into it during WWII. Round top is a tall knoll off by itself and the pilot didn't see it due to fog. Killed all on board.

    Hammock first choice, first choice for compfort, generally less weight to pack, ease of setup

    Backpacking Stephens Arch, Utah

    Stephen's Arch, Escalante Utah, span is 220 ft wide, 14th largest in the world. I hiked underneath it on part of a two day 27 mile backpack trip. Had to climb that cliff on the right to get to it. You can see on my pack the white rope, water shoes etc. We had to drop down a 250 ft cliff...

    Stephen's Arch, Escalante Utah, span is 220 ft wide, 14th largest in the world. I have hiked underneath it on part of a two day backpack trip. Had to climb that cliff on the right to get to it.

    Clifty Creek Conservation Area, one of just a few natural bridges found in Missouri, NW of Rolla, short 3mile loop, allows backpack camping or at the trailhead parking lot Have visited this trail half a dozen times while revisiting taking others.

    yes cold oats. It didn't help no matter how many raisins I added.:confused: I thought about making powdered milk and using vs. the water I was told to use. But, haven't dared.

    Very efficient. At Philmont, the New Mexico High Adventure camp, When you backpack, as part of leave no trace, When you clean out your dishes you have to drink water you just use to clean you pot!!! A little too extreme for me:)
