Hardest hike this year was the Arapaho Traverse in Colorado. It was a classic class 3 traverse, the hardest move was class 4.

Hardest this year was black mountain Arizona. Tough because 1,200 elevation gain in a mile. Very rocky and loose gravel Straight up
Yikes! That's some gain for just a mile!!

All of those terms sounds challenging LOL

Class 3 means don't fall, Class 4 means there's some rock climbing and don't fall! Class 5 means stay away.

Probably the Flat Iron/Siphon Draw trail in the Superstitions.

First because it's ~2.5 miles to the top with ~2600 ft of elevation gain. So it's lots of climbing, and I'm not great with heights.
Second, it was after doing part of the Peralta Canyon trail that morning. So we were already kinda beat.

Wow! That's a lot of gain just for a few miles!!

Pretty much a switchback all the way up, I take it?

There are actually very few switchbacks. It's a lot of climbing, but nothing requiring special gear.
