Yikes! That's some gain for just a mile!!Hardest this year was black mountain Arizona. Tough because 1,200 elevation gain in a mile. Very rocky and loose gravel Straight up
All of those terms sounds challenging LOLHardest hike this year was the Arapaho Traverse in Colorado. It was a classic class 3 traverse, the hardest move was class 4.
Class 3 means don't fall, Class 4 means there's some rock climbing and don't fall! Class 5 means stay away.Yikes! That's some gain for just a mile!!

That's like the Swiss Alpine categorization.Class 3 means don't fall, Class 4 means there's some rock climbing and don't fall! Class 5 means stay away.
It's the YDSThat's like the Swiss Alpine categorization.

Wow! That's a lot of gain just for a few miles!!Probably the Flat Iron/Siphon Draw trail in the Superstitions.
First because it's ~2.5 miles to the top with ~2600 ft of elevation gain. So it's lots of climbing, and I'm not great with heights.
Second, it was after doing part of the Peralta Canyon trail that morning. So we were already kinda beat.
